What The People say about Teacher Effectiveness…
Assuring Teaching Success through Supervision & Accountability (Partial compendium of research verbatims)
The People know very well that many teachers are dedicated and effective; these teachers the People esteem greatly, as they always have, and demand that they be celebrated and compensated commensurately. At the same time, the People have stopped idealizing all teachers as caring and effective. They know that some teachers are unsuited to the job, and others must go a long way to refresh their enthusiasm and skills. The People demand that persistently ineffective teachers be discharged. Good teachers are embarrassed by uncaring and grossly ineffective colleagues, and courageously admit that they should be removed. To accomplish these basic ongoing staff management results, the People demand regular pro-active appraisals of in-class teaching practices by principals and competent others, and prompt improvements in deficient practices. |
